How’s the Market?!

Good news, Barrie! Despite the high unemployment rate in Barrie, real estate activity has had a real boost. According to the Barrie and District Association of Realtors, “the city of Barrie saw 211 residential sales in October, up 23 per cent from one year earlier.” We do have to keep in mind, however, that last year’s market was very volatile, but we have had gains throughout 2011 which is helping us get back on track to grow this city.

Compared to overall Canadian numbers – up 8.5 per cent from this time last year – Barrie is doing very well. Certainly October and getting further into Fall and Winter is slower than Spring and Summer, however there is still significant activity in our city.

If you’re thinking of buying or selling, but you want to wait until February or March, don’t wait! You never know who is out there looking to move. Don’t forget, everyone needs to live somewhere!
